We are a 2 trainer practice with a friendly team and a very low turnover of staff. We aim to make your time with the practice enjoyable and stimulating. You will have an initial two week induction program and this is followed by an individually tailored learning plan. You will have weekly dedicated tutorial session with your trainer and daily debriefing. Your trainer (or another GP) is always allocated to you for queries. We all have an open-door policy and are happy to discuss queries with the other doctors or nurses. You will be encouraged to attend practice, staff and clinical meetings at the practice as well as having exposure with the local clinical commissioning group. The practice is situated in South Bucks and practices from two surgeries. The main surgery is situated in Iver village and the branch surgery in Iver Heath. Both buildings are purpose built in the 1990s and the practice serves the three villages of Iver, Richings Park and Iver Heath. The practice is rural but situated close to the border of Greater London, 6 miles from Slough and 10 miles from Windsor. You will mainly be based at the surgery in Iver village.
We have a total of 9700 patients registered with the practice 3 full time partners and 2 part time. We also have three practice nurses, as well as a healthcare assistant. The practice runs clinics for Diabetes, Asthma and COPD, Hypertension and CHD, Child Health, Antenatal, Family Planning, Travel clinic, Smoking Cessation and Podiatry.
The practice population is mixed. We have patients who are elderly who have been born and brought up in the three villages, younger patients working at Heathrow airport nearby, a traveller site as well as a number of patients from south east Asia living in extended families. As we are close to London with good transport links (overground and the tube in nearby Hillingdon) there are an increasing number of commuters in the practice. This gives good exposure to a range of patients and medical conditions. The practice is fully computerised and paper-light using the EMIS Web system and is a high QOF points scorer.
