Berryfields Medical Centre is a relatively new GMS practice, in Northwest Aylesbury, opened in October 2007. We are currently in modular accomodation on Buckingham Park with a list size of approximately 6,500 patients but this is an exciting time as our patient list is growing at a rate of 120 new patients per month with very little ‘churn’ and a new building on the way.
Our clinical team consists of 5 doctors, 2 nurses and 1 HCA and we provide training for GP registrars, F2 doctors and medical students. Emma Montague is the lead trainer.
The practice uses EMIS Web, Front desk and Docman, and has been ‘paperless’ since 2001. You will be given ample training in mastering all these at the beginning of your attachment.
Berryfields practice offers an extensive range of enhanced services including minor surgery, family planning, immunisations, near patient testing. Our Senior Nurse Practitioner runs daily minor illness clinics and manages chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma/ COPD. Smoking cessation clinics, ECGs and phlebotomy are all conducted in house.
Dr Emma Montague enjoys an interest in Paediatrics and Child Health. Dr Kim Wallace has an interest in Minor Surgery. In addition to his GP work, Dr Richard Wood, has pioneered the Oxforshire Community Headache Service and runs regular community neurology clinics.
Our clinic rooms are leant to our community Midwives, health visitors and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Registrars will be welcomed with an induction pack and timetabled introduction to all members of our primary healthcare team. Protected time for daily learning with weekly tutorial sessions are in addition to the Aylesbury VTS Day Release. We encourage reflective practice and respect individual learning needs.
